Slow Speed CW Net


Reno QRP Group
is hosting a slow speed CW net on Sunday afternoons to promote CW and aid newer CW enthusiasts an opportunity to practise their skills. The frequency is 28.140Khz which will allow all classes of licensees to participate. It begins at 1500 Pacific time (PDT/PST as appropriate). What does
QRP mean?


If you came across this site and are not familiar with QRP, it is a "Q" signal used in radio communication since the early days of morse code.

Generally, it means "low power" and has come to represent transmissions using 5 watts or less. (about the same power as a conventional 'nite lite')

February Luncheon Meeting

This month's meeting will take place Monday, February, 15 at 11:30am. LOCATION: La Fuente Restaurant, 790 Baring Blvd. Sparks, NV. The restaurant is located approx. 1 block East of the intersection of N. McCarran and Baring Blvd. All are welcome. This includes new hams, old hams and wanna-be hams. Sun Spot Numbers Improving-

For more than a month the Cycle 24 Sun Spot Numbers have shown a trend of improvement.

The flux numbers show minimums 10 points greater than the lows of a few months back.
There are few and brief periods without a sun spot compared to over a year on prolonged periods of no sun spots. More info and historical data can be obtained at Solarcycle24.com, see "Links to Related Sites" at the left of this page.

Competition for Super Bowl

There are a number of events for the weekend of February 6-7 in the ham world. Most have a QRP catagory. See WA7BNM's website for info. A link is posted on "Links to Related Sites" at the left of this page.



Field Day Results Published-

ARRL has published 2009 Field Day results. Reno QRP Group demostrated excellent performance once again. Standings are as follows:


#1 ALL entrants in Nevada (QRP, LP, HP)

#2 Catagory 3AB in North America

#4 ALL QRP Catagories in Pacific Division

#23 ALL QRP Catagories in North America

All FD participants can be proud of our performance.

That being said, planning and preparation for 2010 FD must begin.........
