I grew up in Reno and became active in amateur radio in my teens. In college, I was the president of our radio club and also taught a course entitled "Amateur Radio: The Art of Radio Communication". Even during my post-graduate training days, I always kept active in amateur radio in one form or another. Since returning to Reno in 1990, I have developed an interest in QRP. I have built an Elecraft K1 and K2 and enjoy operating QRP portable when motorcycle camping in the warmer months. I feel as if I completed a full circle in my life, having bought and remodeled the home where I grew up. I now have a 70 foot tower with yagi in the same location where I had a 20 foot push up mast supporting a trapped dipole years ago! I primarily operate cw and mostly enjoy ragchewing conversations, but will occasionally dabble with DX and contesting.
